FLEXICIENCY  BY  THE  DATAHUB  –  THE  XTN HUB

The ongoing market revolution needs a solution based on empowering consumers with a datahub that provides the functionality and the flexibility the market needs due to EU Commisions regulations of (1) decoupling infrastructure from the energy content and (2) decoupling gas prices from the oil link and (3) unbundling energy production from energy distribution

There are only one datahub in the world today which uses GPU (Graphical Processing Unit). Basically this is using the rawmaterial which is the data and transform them with the help of supercomputers to extremely valuable objects. This is the XTN Hub which is connected at the energy content side (where the margins are) with a patent application to the European Patent Office. The other one is connected on the infrastructure side

THE XTN CRITERIA

The XTN criteria is all about Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications, i.e. communications between the XTN Hub server machine and a device machine in order to monitor and control devices. One of the main benefits you gain by using XTN is that you can monitor and send commands to/from devices in homogeneous way, i.e. it doesn’t matter what ‘language’ (e.g. protocol) the device uses, you always use the same syntax and the XTN translates the command using the correct protocol/language for the particular device. The XTN is also used to send messages to other types of devices/appliances, like email or SMS.

XTN is built upon open standards and implements separate Application Programming Interfaces (API) for different parties. As an example we implement a separate Web Service for Service Providers for them to access a predefined set of information from the XTN system. End user access is implemented and controlled using different API and communications with devices/gateways is implemented using separate API as well. All API’s are built on open standards and using industry de-facto security standards. XTN can easily be integrated with other systems that supports open standards. We have, for example, integrated with the Telenor billing system, various credit card payment providers, etc.

The XTN solution is implemented as server pairs (backend and frontend servers) and additional server pairs are added to the server farm as the traffic increases. The number of households that each server pair can handle depends on the services offered and the traffic generated from each household.

All communications are encrypted using standard SSL encryption and end users are only allowed to see their own information. Service Providers typically only have access to limited set of data belonging to their service offerings and the data is typically not connected with individual customers.

PILOT  WITH  CENTRICA, UK

XTN has run a pilot with Centrica, UK on the gas side.

FULL  SCALE  COMMERCIAL  OPERATIONS  WITH  THE  ESP  GROUP

XTN has run full scale commercial operations over 2 years carried out by the ESP Group of Oslo, Norway for their business unit “Games on Demand” for 8.000 subscribers in Norway (Telenor, VG, Dagbladet, SOL, Netavisen), Sweden (Telia), Denmark (Ekstrabladet, TV 2) and Germany (RTL).
